In our previous article, we were able to test the Bear mattress’s firmness level as well as its overall performance. Based on our observations, it ranks 7 out of 10 in our comfort level ranking, making it a medium-firm bed. - The pressure relief was adequate for most sleepers. We found that the memory foam was stacked on top the high-density foundation. This meant that it held most pressure points well, particularly at the back.

- In terms of ease of movement, the Bear’s overall construction makes it easy for individuals to change to any position, yet somehow also manages to conform their bodies well.
It’s important to note its many benefits but it also has some limitations, especially for heavy-weight sleepers. The Bear Original is not as suitable for heavy individuals – they may gain the comfort and support that it delivers, but they’ll find it a bit uncomfortable in the long run.

The Casper Original is its flagship mattress and it is one of the most loved. The Casper Original measures 12 inches in height and offers a medium-firm level of comfort that most people will love. Casper Original’s queen-size variant costs $1,295, which makes it more expensive than the Bear mattress of $998. Casper offers a 10-year warranty for its bestsellers and a 100-night trial period.
Similarities
Both the Casper and Bear mattresses offer stellar cooling abilities from the get-go. Only the difference between the two mattresses is in how they do it. Casper uses its AirScape technology to allow airflow. Bear uses open-cell foam, graphite gel infusion and Celliant bed covers to neutralize body temperature while it sleeps. We can appreciate the endless possibilities of the Purple mattress, but it is hard to overlook the steep price tag. The Bear mattress is around $300 more expensive than the Purple.

Nectar is one of America’s most popular direct-to-consumer brands, stealing the hearts of a diverse range of sleepers. Their flagship mattress is the most popular and sought-after product of the company. It delivers solid pressure relief and motion transfer.
We noticed that many of the characteristics of this mattress are very similar to those found in the Bear Original. Although we may have saved the closest competitor, we still appreciate what we found. We’ll be going through every detail very soon.
Similarities
Let’s start with the price. A queen-sized Nectar mattress is only $799. If you compare this price tag to the Bear mattress, you’ll notice the smaller difference between the two. The Nectar is only $50 more expensive than our old beds. This means both this mattress and the Bear are among the most affordable premium foam beds available on the market.
The Nectar’s firmness level is as medium-firm as Bear’s, although one of them is very slightly stiffer than the other. It is constructed in the same way: it has a high density foundation base, transitional polyfoam at the center, and a gel-infused, memory foam top. This combination results in an ample amount of responsiveness to navigate around the bed.
Given how it’s made, the Nectar should be a perfect match for sleepers below 230 lbs. It should also be a great choice for couples, as it has the same excellent motion transfer abilities.

You could go on and forth about how identical the Nectar or Bear mattresses are to each other. We should also highlight the differences between these two bed models because they are different. Among the most notable is the thickness of the comfort layer. The Nectar mattress’s memory layer is one inch thicker than Bear’s. This makes it more suitable for people who sleep on their sides.
