Benefits and Disadvantages
In our previous article, we were able to test the Bear mattress’s firmness level as well as its overall performance. It ranks 7th out of 10 in comfort rating, which makes it a medium-firm mattress. When it came to analysing through a series of performance tests, there were a couple of fascinating things that we found:

Casper, a bed in a box brand, offers a variety of high-quality mattresses, each one designed to suit different circumstances. Established in 2014, Casper is one of the first direct-to-consumer mattress companies to popularize bed-in-a-box delivery as we know it today.
The Casper Original is its flagship mattress and it is one of the most loved. Standing at 12″, the Casper advertises a medium-firm comfort level that most sleepers will enjoy. Casper Original’s queen-size variant costs $1,295, which makes it more expensive than the Bear mattress of $998. The Casper company offers a 10-year warranty on its namesake bestseller and a 100-night sleep trial period.
Similarities
Both the Casper and Bear mattresses offer stellar cooling abilities from the get-go. The only difference is how they execute it to make it happen: Casper utilizes its signature AirScape technology on the top polyurethane layer to allow airflow, while Bear’s combination of open-cell foam, graphite-gel infusion, and Celliant bed cover, on the other hand, helps neutralize the body’s temperature while it’s asleep. Differences
The Casper has a dedicated zoned support layer of memory foam. There are differences
The Purple mattress’s overall feel can be immediately noticed when you lay down on it. The Bear’s memory foam feel is still there, but the Purple Mattress has a unique surface which, when activated, becomes flexible and responsive to your body’s ever-changing movement. This gives it an advantage over all the rest. The Purple is, among other things, much easier to navigate than the Bear.
While we can appreciate its endless possibilities, it’s hard to ignore the price tag – the Purple is more expensive than the Bear mattress by around $300.
Who Should Use the Purple Mattress?

- Heavyweight sleepers looking for a foam bed that can support its weight to the best of its abilities

Bear Mattress vs. Leesa (Leesa Original)
Leesa is among the first modern direct-to-consumer companies that, like Casper, have popularized the bed-in-a-box delivery system. It offers a wide range of models, from all-foam to hybrid. The company’s bestselling Sapira hybrid beds and Legend hybrid beds have received high praise, but the Leesa Original is still a fan favorite product offering. It costs $1,199 (Queen size) and is their most affordable option.
The Leesa Original mattress is made up of a layer of memory foam and a layer of special polyfoam. Although it is a little more firm than Bear’s, its responsiveness and contouring are still excellent. The Leesa measures approximately 10 inches tall, which is the same height as Bear’s mattress. They share more than height similarities. Nectar is one of America’s most popular direct-to-consumer brands, stealing the hearts of a diverse range of sleepers. Their flagship mattress is the most popular and sought-after product of the company. It provides solid pressure relief and motion transfer.
We noticed that many of the characteristics of this mattress are very similar to those found in the Bear Original. We may have saved our closest, near-identical competitor for last, but while we can appreciate what we’ve discovered, it’s still worth noting that they have a few distinctions – we’ll go through all of it very shortly.
Similarities
First, let’s talk about the price: a Queen-sized variant of the Nectar mattress costs only $799. Compare this price to the Bear mattress and you’ll see a smaller difference. The Nectar is only $50 more expensive than our old beds. Both the Bear and this mattress are premium foam beds that are very affordable.
The Nectar’s firmness level is as medium-firm as Bear’s, although one of them is very slightly stiffer than the other. This combination results in an ample amount of responsiveness to navigate around the bed.
The Nectar is made from a very simple material and should suit sleepers less than 230 lbs. It should also be a great choice for couples, as it has the same excellent motion transfer abilities.

You could go on and forth about how identical the Nectar or Bear mattresses are to each other. We should also highlight the differences between these two bed models because they are different. The comfort layer’s thickness is one of the most noticeable. The Nectar mattress’s memory layer is one inch thicker than Bear’s. This makes it more suitable for people who sleep on their sides.
