Bear Mattress Vs Than Ultra

bearmattress-vs-competition

Bear is one of the highly-popular mattress brands making waves for its offering of high-quality models, the most notable of which being its flagship Original Mattress. This particular kind of foam bed is best known for its stellar performance, with enough responsiveness, pressure relief, and cooling properties to keep sleepers cozy and cool throughout the night.

However, while it delivers very well in soothing nearly everyone, the Bear Original shouldn’t be the only option to look forward to. Many other premium foam beds in the market offer sleepers a diverse range of features and accommodations, some having a few more that the Bear can’t always provide.

Today, we’ll be taking a look at the top-selling mattresses from Casper, Purple, Leesa, and Nectar. We’ll see what makes each of them stand out, and discover what else they have in common with Bear, which we’ll provide you with an overview very shortly.

The Bear Original Mattress Overview Bear Mattress Vs Than Ultra

The Bear Original mattress premium all-foam mattress is packed with special features and functions that provide quick recovery and efficient comfort. Priced at $748 (Queen-size), it is geared toward active individuals such as athletes, first responders, and frontliners. It contains a top comfort layer of graphite-gel memory foam equipped to cushion the body’s pressure points and contour the silhouette. Bear Mattress Vs Than Ultra

The Bear’s cooling properties are also due to the mattress’s open cell foam technology and its medically tested Celliant cover. This makes it a rare memory foam mattress that has this unique advantage.

Benefits and Disadvantages

We were able to evaluate the Bear mattress’s firmness and overall performance in our previous article. Based on our observations, it ranks 7 out of 10 in our comfort level ranking, making it a medium-firm bed. We discovered a few interesting things when analysing the performance of the bed through a series test.

  • Most sleepers found the pressure relief adequate. We found that the memory foam was stacked on top the high-density foundation. This meant that it held most pressure points well, particularly at the back.
  • Since we’re talking about an all-foam mattress here, you should expect it to have fantastic motion isolation abilities.
  • In terms of ease of movement, the Bear’s overall construction makes it easy for individuals to change to any position, yet somehow also manages to conform their bodies well.

While it’s worth noting its fantastic benefits, we should also mention that it has a few limits, particularly when it comes to heavyweight sleepers using the mattress. The Bear Original isn’t as good for heavy people. They may find the mattress a little uncomfortable, although they might get the support and comfort it provides.

Who should use the Bear Original?

  • Those who prefer sleeping on memory foam but don’t appreciate the sinking feeling at the same time
  • Active individuals, such as athletes, first responders and others
  • Couples who are looking for the best mattress value with best edge support and motion transfer
  • For light and average back sleepers, a bed that feels like an innerspring model is a good choice.

Bear Mattress vs. Casper (Casper Original)

Casper, a bed in a box brand, offers a variety of high-quality mattresses, each one designed to suit different circumstances. Established in 2014, Casper is one of the first direct-to-consumer mattress companies to popularize bed-in-a-box delivery as we know it today.

The Casper Original is its flagship mattress and it is one of the most loved. The Casper Original measures 12 inches in height and offers a medium-firm level of comfort that most people will love. Casper Original’s queen-size variant costs $1,295, which makes it more expensive than the Bear mattress of $998. The Casper company offers a 10-year warranty on its namesake bestseller and a 100-night sleep trial period.

Similarities

Both the Casper and Bear mattresses offer stellar cooling abilities from the get-go. Only the difference between the two mattresses is in how they do it. Casper uses its AirScape technology to allow airflow. Bear uses open-cell foam, graphite gel infusion and Celliant bed covers to neutralize body temperature while it sleeps. Despite being foam beds, both work well in cooling the sleeper.

Both the Bear and Casper have enough features that they are suitable for those under 230 pounds. The memory foam layer on each mattress is designed to contour their bodies, alleviate pressure points and maintain their spine alignment.

Differences

The Casper has a dedicated zoned support layer of memory foam. The mattress’s second layer consists of two soft top and bottom panels to cushion the shoulders and lower limbs and a firmer one in the middle to support the hips, waist, and lower back, providing the body with added comfort and relief.

The Casper, as previously mentioned, has a medium-firm comfort level. However, between it and the Bear Original, it’s much softer in comparison. While some disadvantages such as difficulties in movement may arise, we find the Casper much more comfortable for strict side-sleepers.

Who should use the Casper Original?

  • For those who want a premium foam bed that has all the Bear’s features and extra cushioning for their hips, back, shoulders, and hips
  • Sleepers who love the sinking sensation when they lay down on the bed
  • Individuals and couples looking for exceptional motion isolation.

Bear Mattress vs. Purple (Purple Mattress)

Purple is a sleep company specializing in developing innovative technologies designed and optimized to improve a person’s sleep quality. You may know them best for their groundbreaking purple gel-grid polymer. This material was originally used to cushion wheelchairs. However, it has since revolutionized the mattress and sleep industry in many ways. Bear Mattress Vs Than Ultra

The 9.5-inch-thick Purple Mattress showcases the company’s contributions to sleepers from all walks of life. It has a foundational base of four inches and a transitional layer of polyfoam measuring 3.5 inches. The transitional layer, unlike other similar mattresses like the Bear, is thicker. This allows the body to conform to its surface without sinking, unlike other similar mattresses. The firmness of the Purple is the same as that of the Bear Original, but it costs $1,399 (Queen size).

Similarities

Although the Purple bed’s signature grid layer is different from the Bear, it provides back sleepers with the most comfortable comfort possible. The polymer grid is gel-infused; as the person lies down on the Purple, the gel in the grid activates, and it instantly adjusts to the person’s weight and sleeping position.

The Bear Original’s cooling capabilities are comparable to the Purple Mattress. Both beds share the same firmness – if we could rank the Purple’s comfort level, we could confidently rank it at 7 out of 10.

Differences

The Purple’s overall feel is so different that you can immediately tell when you first lay down on it. While the Bear has the traditional memory foam feel, the Purple Mattress has a unique surface that, upon activation, becomes very flexible and responsive to the body’s ever-changing movements, giving it an elevated advantage over the rest. The Purple Mattress is easier to navigate than that of the Bear.

While we can appreciate its endless possibilities, it’s hard to ignore the price tag – the Purple is more expensive than the Bear mattress by around $300.

Who should use the Purple Mattress?

  • Those who prefer sleeping on top of the mattress’s surface
  • Heavyweight sleepers looking for a foam bed that can support its weight to the best of its abilities
  • This is for those who sleep flat on their backs (shoulder or stomach sleepers may also consider this).

Bear Mattress vs. Leesa (Leesa Original)

Leesa was among the first direct-to-consumer modern companies to popularize the bed-in a box delivery system. There are many models available, including all-foam and hybrid. The company’s bestselling Sapira hybrid beds and Legend hybrid beds have received high praise, but the Leesa Original is still a fan favorite product offering. It costs $1,199 (Queen size) and is their most affordable option.

The Leesa Original mattress consists of a top comfort layer of specialty polyfoam formulated by the Leesa company and a memory foam layer underneath it. Its firmness may be a bit softer than Bear’s in comparison, but it manages to strike a balance between contouring and responsiveness. It’s easy to see why their flagship mattress is still in high demand today, thanks to Leesa’s outstanding customer service hotline.

Similarities

The Leesa is around 10 inches in total height, which happens to be the same as Bear’s mattress. However, they have much more in common than just height similarities. One of those is how they addressed the pressing issue of overheating, a recurring concern with all-foam mattresses. The Leesa utilizes the specialty top layer to help cool down the sleeper.

The Bear and this bed also share a common trait: responsiveness. Memory foam mattresses are notorious for slow response times over the years. However, both the Leesa as well as the Bear are exempted.

Differences

While the Leesa and Bear have memory foam and are responsive, we shouldn’t completely gloss over how each places this material. The Bear Original’s memory foam is used as a top comfort layer. The Leesa is placed in the middle of the mattress as a transitional layer.

Additionally, the latter’s top layer is not just made solely of polyfoam but also a mix of memory foam. The Leesa mattress is much more comfortable than Bear’s. It is also slightly more bouncier. Bear Mattress Vs Than Ultra

Who should use the Leesa Original?

  • Those looking for a much more responsive foam mattress
  • Sleepers who enjoy laying on high-quality beds that provide extra cushioning
  • Socially conscious individuals – Leesa has held initiatives to donate and provide beds to children in need of quality sleep

Bear Mattress vs. Nectar (Nectar Memory Foam)

Nectar is a popular direct-to consumer brand in America, and has won the hearts of many sleepers. They’re best known for their flagship mattress, the company’s most in-demand product, and among the most sought-after overall. It delivers solid pressure relief and motion transfer.

We noticed that many of the characteristics of this mattress are very similar to those found in the Bear Original. Although we may have saved the closest competitor, we still appreciate what we found. We’ll be going through every detail very soon.

Similarities

First, let’s talk about the price: a Queen-sized variant of the Nectar mattress costs only $799. Compare this price to the Bear mattress and you’ll see a smaller difference. The Nectar is only $50 more expensive than our old beds. Both the Bear and this mattress are premium foam beds that are very affordable.

The Nectar’s firmness level is as medium-firm as Bear’s, although one of them is very slightly stiffer than the other. The construction is also identical: it is stacked by a high-density foundation base, a transitional polyfoam in the middle, and a gel-infused memory foam surface to top it off. The combination gives the bed a lot of responsiveness, making it easy to move around.

Given how it’s made, the Nectar should be a perfect match for sleepers below 230 lbs. It should also be a great choice for couples, as it has the same excellent motion transfer abilities.

Differences

We could go on and on about how the Nectar and Bear mattresses are identically similar to each other. But since they’re two different bed models, we should point out the differences as well. The comfort layer’s thickness is one of the most noticeable. The Nectar mattress’s memory layer is one inch thicker than Bear’s. This makes it more suitable for people who sleep on their sides.

Who Should Use the Nectar Memory Foam Mattress?

  • Those who want a medium-firm mattress that can also accommodate side sleepers
  • Persons suffering from joint and hip pains looking for a bed with exceptional pressure relief
  • Couples or individuals who don’t want to be easily disturbed by varying movements

Final Thoughts Bear Mattress Vs Than Ultra

Now that we’re nearing the end of the review of Bear vs. Casper, Purple, Leesa, and Nectar, we must talk briefly about their limits. We can admire the many benefits they offer to sleepers around the world, but we need to remember that not all of them work perfectly.

Given the nature of all-foam mattresses, don’t expect many of them to have great edge support. You shouldn’t expect them to be accommodating to heavy persons, side sleepers, and stomach sleepers, either, as most are not readily equipped to handle large weights.

With all of that out of the way, we’d like to share some important tips to keep in mind in searching for the right bed:

  1. Check if the mattress’s materials and construction are good enough to support you on the stomach, shoulders, and hips as much as the back
  2. Inspect the bed’s surface and responsiveness – if you prefer to sleep into it and do not want to move too much, the comfort level should be softer; if you change positions often, the firmer surface may be your best pick
  3. Is the mattress cool? Is it able to provide great edge support? Is it buoyant? These are just a few of the important questions you need to ask.

You can choose to use the Bear Original mattress or another type of mattress. All that matters is that you find the bed that will give you the best quality sleep. Bear Mattress Vs Than Ultra
