We were able to evaluate the Bear mattress’s firmness and overall performance in our previous article. Based on our observations, it ranks 7 out of 10 in our comfort level ranking, making it a medium-firm bed. - The pressure relief was adequate for most sleepers. We found that the memory foam was stacked on top the high-density foundation. This meant that it held most pressure points well, particularly at the back.

- In terms of ease of movement, the Bear’s overall construction makes it easy for individuals to change to any position, yet somehow also manages to conform their bodies well.
It’s important to note its many benefits but it also has some limitations, especially for heavy-weight sleepers. The Bear Original is not as suitable for heavy individuals – they may gain the comfort and support that it delivers, but they’ll find it a bit uncomfortable in the long run.

Its flagship mattress, the Casper Original, is one of its most popular products. The Casper Original measures 12 inches in height and offers a medium-firm level of comfort that most people will love. Similarities
Both the Casper and Bear mattresses offer stellar cooling abilities from the get-go. The only difference is how they execute it to make it happen: Casper utilizes its signature AirScape technology on the top polyurethane layer to allow airflow, while Bear’s combination of open-cell foam, graphite-gel infusion, and Celliant bed cover, on the other hand, helps neutralize the body’s temperature while it’s asleep. The Casper has a dedicated zoned support layer of memory foam. While the Bear has the traditional memory foam feel, the Purple Mattress has a unique surface that, upon activation, becomes very flexible and responsive to the body’s ever-changing movements, giving it an elevated advantage over the rest. The Purple is, among other things, much easier to navigate than the Bear.
While we can appreciate its endless possibilities, it’s hard to ignore the price tag – the Purple is more expensive than the Bear mattress by around $300.
Who should use the Purple Mattress?

- For heavyweight sleepers, a foam mattress that supports their weight is a must.

Nectar is a popular direct-to consumer brand in America, and has won the hearts of many sleepers. They’re best known for their flagship mattress, the company’s most in-demand product, and among the most sought-after overall. It delivers solid pressure relief and motion transfer.
We noticed that many of the characteristics of this mattress are very similar to those found in the Bear Original. Although we may have saved the closest competitor, we still appreciate what we found. We’ll be going through every detail very soon.
Similarities
First, let’s talk about the price: a Queen-sized variant of the Nectar mattress costs only $799. Compare this price to the Bear mattress and you’ll see a smaller difference. The Nectar is only $50 more expensive than our old beds. This means both this mattress and the Bear are among the most affordable premium foam beds available on the market.
The Nectar’s firmness level is as medium-firm as Bear’s, although one of them is very slightly stiffer than the other. It is constructed in the same way: it has a high density foundation base, transitional polyfoam at the center, and a gel-infused, memory foam top. This combination results in an ample amount of responsiveness to navigate around the bed.

You could go on and forth about how identical the Nectar or Bear mattresses are to each other. We should also highlight the differences between these two bed models because they are different. Among the most notable is the thickness of the comfort layer. The Nectar mattress’s memory foam portion is an inch thicker than Bear’s and as a result, it’s more ideal for persons who often sleep on the side.
