bearmattress-vs-competition

Bear is one of the highly-popular mattress brands making waves for its offering of high-quality models, the most notable of which being its flagship Original Mattress. This particular kind of foam bed is best known for its stellar performance, with enough responsiveness, pressure relief, and cooling properties to keep sleepers cozy and cool throughout the night.

However, while it delivers very well in soothing nearly everyone, the Bear Original shouldn’t be the only option to look forward to. There are many premium foam beds on the market that offer a variety of accommodations and features, including some that can be used for sleeping.

Today we will be looking at the best-selling mattresses in Casper, Purple and Leesa. We’ll look at what makes each one stand out and what they share with Bear. You’ll get an overview in a very short time.

The Bear Original Mattress Overview Bear Mattress Vs Between Subjects Design

The Bear Original mattress is a premium all-foam mattress packed with specially-designed features and functions to provide efficient comfort and quick recovery. Priced at $748 (Queen-size), it is geared toward active individuals such as athletes, first responders, and frontliners. The top comfort layer is made of graphite gel memory foam, which contours the silhouette and cushions the body’s pressure points. Bear Mattress Vs Between Subjects Design

The Bear’s cooling properties are also due to the mattress’s open cell foam technology and its medically tested Celliant cover. This makes it a rare memory foam mattress that has this unique advantage.

Benefits and disadvantages

We were able to evaluate the Bear mattress’s firmness and overall performance in our previous article. It ranks 7th out of 10 in comfort rating, which makes it a medium-firm mattress. When it came to analysing through a series of performance tests, there were a couple of fascinating things that we found:

  • The pressure relief was adequate for most sleepers. Considering the memory foam is stacked on top of the high-density foundation, we observed that it held most of the body’s pressure points very well, especially at the back.
  • Since we’re talking about an all-foam mattress here, you should expect it to have fantastic motion isolation abilities.
  • In terms of ease of movement, the Bear’s overall construction makes it easy for individuals to change to any position, yet somehow also manages to conform their bodies well.

While it’s worth noting its fantastic benefits, we should also mention that it has a few limits, particularly when it comes to heavyweight sleepers using the mattress. The Bear Original isn’t as good for heavy people. They may find the mattress a little uncomfortable, although they might get the support and comfort it provides.

Who Should Use the Bear Original?

  • Those who prefer sleeping on memory foam but don’t appreciate the sinking feeling at the same time
  • Athletes, first responders, and other active individuals
  • Couples looking for a best-value mattress with the best edge support and motion transfer
  • For light and average back sleepers, a bed that feels like an innerspring model is a good choice.

Bear Mattress vs. Casper (Casper Original)

Casper is a bed-in-a-box brand that offers a wide range of high-quality mattress models, each designed for many different personal circumstances, at affordable prices. Established in 2014, Casper is one of the first direct-to-consumer mattress companies to popularize bed-in-a-box delivery as we know it today.

Its flagship mattress, the Casper Original, is one of its most popular products. Standing at 12″, the Casper advertises a medium-firm comfort level that most sleepers will enjoy. The queen-sized variant of the Casper Original costs $1,295, which is much pricier than the Bear mattress at $998. The Casper company offers a 10-year warranty on its namesake bestseller and a 100-night sleep trial period.

Similarities

Both Casper and Bear mattresses have outstanding cooling capabilities from the beginning. Only the difference between the two mattresses is in how they do it. Casper uses its AirScape technology to allow airflow. Bear uses open-cell foam, graphite gel infusion and Celliant bed covers to neutralize body temperature while it sleeps. Despite being foam beds, both work well in cooling the sleeper.

Both the Bear and Casper have enough features that they are suitable for those under 230 pounds. The memory foam layer on each mattress is designed to contour their bodies, alleviate pressure points and maintain their spine alignment.

Differences

The Casper features a memory foam support layer that is zoned. The second layer of the mattress consists two layers: a soft top and bottom panel to cushion the shoulders and lower extremities, and a thicker middle one to support the hips, waist and lower back. This provides additional comfort and relief.

As mentioned previously, the Casper has medium-firm comfort. It’s much more comfortable than the Bear Original. Although there are some drawbacks, such as difficulty in moving, the Casper is much more comfortable for side-sleepers.

Who should use the Casper Original?

  • Those looking for a high-quality foam bed with most of Bear’s features plus extra cushioning on the back, hips, and shoulders
  • Sleepers who love the sinking sensation when they lay down on the bed
  • Individuals and couples looking for exceptional motion isolation.

Bear Mattress vs. Purple (Purple Mattress)

Purple is a company that specializes in the development of innovative technologies to improve sleep quality. Their purple gel-grid polymer is what you may be most familiar with. This material was originally used to cushion wheelchairs. However, it has since revolutionized the mattress and sleep industry in many ways. Bear Mattress Vs Between Subjects Design

Purple Mattress, measuring 9.5 inches thick, is a testament to the company’s commitment to all types of sleepers. It consists of a four-inch foundational base and a 3.5″ transitional polyfoam. Unlike the Bear and other similar mattresses, the transitional layer is thicker, allowing the body to conform to the surface without worrying about sinking. The Purple’s firmness is at the same level as the Bear Original but steeper in price at $1,399 (Queen-size).

Similarities

The Purple bed and its signature grid layer may be different than the Bear, but it delivers spotlessly in accommodating back sleepers with the best-optimized comfort they deserve. Gel-infused polymer grids are activated when a person lies down on it. The grid adjusts to their weight and position instantly.

The Purple Mattress has exceptional cooling abilities that match the Bear Original. Both beds share the same firmness – if we could rank the Purple’s comfort level, we could confidently rank it at 7 out of 10.

Differences

The Purple mattress’s overall feel can be immediately noticed when you lay down on it. While the Bear has the traditional memory foam feel, the Purple Mattress has a unique surface that, upon activation, becomes very flexible and responsive to the body’s ever-changing movements, giving it an elevated advantage over the rest. The Purple is, among other things, much easier to navigate than the Bear.

We can appreciate the endless possibilities of the Purple mattress, but it is hard to overlook the steep price tag. The Bear mattress is around $300 more expensive than the Purple.

Who Should Use the Purple Mattress?

  • People who like to sleep on the mattress’s top
  • Heavyweight sleepers looking for a foam bed that can support its weight to the best of its abilities
  • This is for those who sleep flat on their backs (shoulder or stomach sleepers may also consider this).

Bear Mattress vs. Leesa (Leesa Original)

Leesa is among the first modern direct-to-consumer companies that, like Casper, have popularized the bed-in-a-box delivery system. It offers a wide range of models, from all-foam to hybrid. The company’s bestselling Sapira hybrid beds and Legend hybrid beds have received high praise, but the Leesa Original is still a fan favorite product offering. It costs $1,199 (Queen size) and is their most affordable option.

The Leesa Original mattress is made up of a layer of memory foam and a layer of special polyfoam. Although it is a little more firm than Bear’s, its responsiveness and contouring are still excellent. With Leesa’s excellent customer hotline serving as the cherry on top of its capabilities to keep the sleeper comfortable, it’s no wonder their flagship mattress is still popular today!

Similarities

The Leesa is around 10 inches in total height, which happens to be the same as Bear’s mattress. They share more than height similarities. They also addressed the issue of heat buildup, which is a common problem with all-foam mattresses. The Leesa uses a special top layer to cool the sleeper.

The Bear and this bed also share a common trait: responsiveness. Memory foam mattresses have gained a bad rep over the years for their slow responses, but both the Leesa and Bear are exempted.

There are differences

While the Leesa and Bear have memory foam and are responsive, we shouldn’t completely gloss over how each places this material. The Bear Original’s memory foam is used as a top comfort layer. With the Leesa, on the other hand, we see it sandwiched in the middle as a transitional layer.

Additionally, the latter’s top layer is not just made solely of polyfoam but also a mix of memory foam. As a result, the Leesa mattress’s overall comfort level is much softer than Bear’s. It is also slightly more bouncier. Bear Mattress Vs Between Subjects Design

Who Should Use the Leesa Original?

  • For those who are looking for a more responsive foam mattress
  • People who love to sleep on top-quality beds with extra cushioning
  • Socially conscious individuals – Leesa has held initiatives to donate and provide beds to children in need of quality sleep

Bear Mattress vs. Nectar (Nectar Memory Foam)

Nectar is a popular direct-to consumer brand in America, and has won the hearts of many sleepers. They’re best known for their flagship mattress, the company’s most in-demand product, and among the most sought-after overall. It provides solid pressure relief and motion transfer.

We noticed that many of the characteristics of this mattress are very similar to those found in the Bear Original. Although we may have saved the closest competitor, we still appreciate what we found. We’ll be going through every detail very soon.

Similarities

Let’s start with the price. A queen-sized Nectar mattress is only $799. Compare this price to the Bear mattress and you’ll see a smaller difference. The Nectar is only $50 more expensive than our old beds. Both the Bear and this mattress are premium foam beds that are very affordable.

The Nectar’s firmness level is as medium-firm as Bear’s, although one of them is very slightly stiffer than the other. The construction is also identical: it is stacked by a high-density foundation base, a transitional polyfoam in the middle, and a gel-infused memory foam surface to top it off. This combination results in an ample amount of responsiveness to navigate around the bed.

The Nectar is made from a very simple material and should suit sleepers less than 230 lbs. Because of its excellent motion transfer capabilities, it should be a great choice to partner.

There are differences

We could go on and on about how the Nectar and Bear mattresses are identically similar to each other. We should also highlight the differences between these two bed models because they are different. The comfort layer’s thickness is one of the most noticeable. The Nectar mattress’s memory foam portion is an inch thicker than Bear’s and as a result, it’s more ideal for persons who often sleep on the side.

Who should use the Nectar Memory Foam Mattress

  • People who prefer a medium-firm mattress, which can also be used by side sleepers
  • Persons suffering from joint and hip pains looking for a bed with exceptional pressure relief
  • Individuals and couples who aren’t interested in being disturbed by different movements.

Last Thoughts Bear Mattress Vs Between Subjects Design

We’re now nearing the end in our review of Bear vs. Casper. Purple, Leesa and Nectar. Let’s talk about their limitations. While we can stop by and admire all the benefits they bring to sleepers anywhere, we still need to remind ourselves that not all of them are perfect.

Given the nature of all-foam mattresses, don’t expect many of them to have great edge support. You shouldn’t expect them to be accommodating to heavy persons, side sleepers, and stomach sleepers, either, as most are not readily equipped to handle large weights.

We’ve got all that covered. Now, let’s talk about some key tips for finding the perfect bed.

  1. Check if the mattress’s materials and construction are good enough to support you on the stomach, shoulders, and hips as much as the back
  2. You should inspect the surface of the bed and its responsiveness. If you like to sleep in it and don’t want to move around, the comfort level should feel softer. However, if you frequently change your position, a firmer surface might be the best choice.
  3. Is the mattress cool? Is it able to provide great edge support? Does it have the buoyancy you’re craving? These are just some of the other important questions to keep in mind

You can choose to use the Bear Original mattress or another type of mattress. All that matters is that you find the bed that will give you the best quality sleep. Bear Mattress Vs Between Subjects Design
