Benefits and disadvantages
In our previous article, we were able to test the Bear mattress’s firmness level as well as its overall performance. It ranks 7th out of 10 in comfort rating, which makes it a medium-firm mattress. We discovered a few interesting things when analysing the performance of the bed through a series test.

Its flagship mattress, the Casper Original, is one of its most popular products. The Casper Original measures 12 inches in height and offers a medium-firm level of comfort that most people will love. Casper Original’s queen-size variant costs $1,295, which makes it more expensive than the Bear mattress of $998. Casper offers a 10-year warranty for its bestsellers and a 100-night trial period.
Similarities
Both the Casper and Bear mattresses offer stellar cooling abilities from the get-go. The only difference is how they execute it to make it happen: Casper utilizes its signature AirScape technology on the top polyurethane layer to allow airflow, while Bear’s combination of open-cell foam, graphite-gel infusion, and Celliant bed cover, on the other hand, helps neutralize the body’s temperature while it’s asleep. Both foam beds work well at cooling the sleeper, despite being foam beds.
Both the Bear and Casper have enough features that they are suitable for those under 230 pounds. The memory foam layer on each mattress is designed to contour their bodies, alleviate pressure points and maintain their spine alignment.
Differences
The Casper has a dedicated zoned support layer of memory foam. The Purple mattress’s overall feel can be immediately noticed when you lay down on it. While the Bear has the traditional memory foam feel, the Purple Mattress has a unique surface that, upon activation, becomes very flexible and responsive to the body’s ever-changing movements, giving it an elevated advantage over the rest. The Purple Mattress is easier to navigate than that of the Bear.
We can appreciate the endless possibilities of the Purple mattress, but it is hard to overlook the steep price tag. The Bear mattress is around $300 more expensive than the Purple.

The Leesa Original mattress is made up of a layer of memory foam and a layer of special polyfoam. Although it is a little more firm than Bear’s, its responsiveness and contouring are still excellent. It’s easy to see why their flagship mattress is still in high demand today, thanks to Leesa’s outstanding customer service hotline.
Similarities
The Leesa measures approximately 10 inches tall, which is the same height as Bear’s mattress. However, they have much more in common than just height similarities. They also addressed the issue of heat buildup, which is a common problem with all-foam mattresses. The Leesa uses a special top layer to cool the sleeper.
Another thing this bed has in common with the Bear is responsiveness. Memory foam mattresses are notorious for slow response times over the years. However, both the Leesa as well as the Bear are exempted.
Differences

Nectar is one of America’s most popular direct-to-consumer brands, stealing the hearts of a diverse range of sleepers. They’re best known for their flagship mattress, the company’s most in-demand product, and among the most sought-after overall. It provides solid pressure relief and motion transfer.
As we further checked what else this mattress could do, we noticed many of its traits are closely similar to the Bear Original. We may have saved our closest, near-identical competitor for last, but while we can appreciate what we’ve discovered, it’s still worth noting that they have a few distinctions – we’ll go through all of it very shortly.
Similarities
First, let’s talk about the price: a Queen-sized variant of the Nectar mattress costs only $799. Compare this price to the Bear mattress and you’ll see a smaller difference. The Nectar is only $50 more expensive than our old beds. Both the Bear and this mattress are premium foam beds that are very affordable.
The Nectar’s firmness level is as medium-firm as Bear’s, although one of them is very slightly stiffer than the other. It is constructed in the same way: it has a high density foundation base, transitional polyfoam at the center, and a gel-infused, memory foam top. This combination results in an ample amount of responsiveness to navigate around the bed.
The Nectar is made from a very simple material and should suit sleepers less than 230 lbs. It should also be a great choice for couples, as it has the same excellent motion transfer abilities.
There are differences
We could go on and on about how the Nectar and Bear mattresses are identically similar to each other. But since they’re two different bed models, we should point out the differences as well. The comfort layer’s thickness is one of the most noticeable. The Nectar mattress’s memory layer is one inch thicker than Bear’s. This makes it more suitable for people who sleep on their sides.

All-foam mattresses are not designed to provide a lot of edge support. You shouldn’t expect them to be accommodating to heavy persons, side sleepers, and stomach sleepers, either, as most are not readily equipped to handle large weights.
